🏉 Rugby League Career
Before turning to boxing, Mundine was a rugby league star in the 1990s.
He played as a five-eighth for the St. George Dragons, Brisbane Broncos, and St. George Illawarra Dragons,
becoming one of the highest-paid players in the NRL. Known for his explosive playmaking, speed, and creativity,
he helped lead the Dragons to multiple grand final appearances.

Mundine made his professional boxing debut in 2000. Despite having no amateur background,
he rose quickly through the ranks, becoming one of Australia’s most successful and marketable boxers.
He held multiple world titles across three weight divisions:
- 🏆 WBA Super-Middleweight Title (twice) – 2003–2008
- 🏆 IBO Middleweight Title – 2009–2010
- 🏆 WBA Interim Super-Welterweight Title – 2011–2012
Throughout his 21-year boxing career, Mundine fought many world-class opponents including Mikkel Kessler,
Danny Green, Shane Mosley, and Joshua Clottey. His rivalry with Danny Green became one of the most talked-about
in Australian boxing history.
Mundine’s boxing style combined speed, athleticism, and tactical sharpness, earning him respect even among critics
who were initially skeptical of his transition from rugby league.
